The Museum houses approximately 700 exhibits, illustrating all the five main types of Lace which were made in Ireland. On display are Wedding Dresses, Wedding Veils, Shawls, Parasols, Collars, Baby Bonnets, Christening Gowns, Flounces, Jackets and many more items. The exhibits can be split up into five categories: Irish Crochet Lace, Youghal Needlelace, Inishmacsaint Needlelace, Carrickmacross Lace and Limerick Lace. Part of Room 1 of the Museum. This room is where the Museum tour starts with examples of early attempts at lace-making by machine, followed by some very early European examples.Mountmellick Embroidery is featured next, and then Irish Flowering and Filet Lace. A picture gallery of Lace Makers and Lace Wearers covers one wall


 

Part of Room 1 of the Museum. This view continues by showing a Victorian Bed with Irish Bed Linen and Drapes, then a fascinating section with childrens hand-made costumes. Other victorian costumes can be seen, and a display of exquisitely decorated lace fans.

 

 

Part of Room 2 of the Museum. Room 2 is bursting with completely perfect examples of the five main Irish Laces:- Irish Crochet Lace, Youghal Needlelace, Inishmacsaint Needlelace, Carrickmacross Lace and Limerick Lace.
